Mara Magyarosi-Laytner | Artist

Combining her love of photography with her passion for connecting with people, Mara Magyarosi-Laytner focuses on pushing culturally responsive education through art and design

Magyarosi-Laytner is an experimental photographer and visual artist whose works have been featured across the globe and in various publications, including Float Photo Magazine.

In 2022, her work from "The Untended Garden" was a Photolucida Critical Mass Finalist. That work was published into a book in 2024. She is also the co-executive director of NOVA24, an international photography and film festival in metro Detroit.

And as an educator at Westland’s William D. Ford Career Technical Center and the College for Creative Studies (CCS), in Detroit, Magyarosi-Laytner won the 2019 Inspiring Educator Award through the Southeastern Michigan Region Scholastic Art Awards.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in photography from CCS, a master's degree in arts administration and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Magyarosi-Laytner lives in Hazel Park.
