Micah 6 Community

Coleman Yoakum moved to Pontiac in 2012. A native of Beebe, Ark., he attended Harding University from 2005-2009. Once in Pontiac, Coleman founded Micah 6 Community, a community development nonprofit dedicated to stabilizing a struggling neighborhood on the west side of the city. Today, Micah 6 Community tends 1.5 acres of community gardens that grow over 5,000 pounds of food annually. Micah 6 also opened a produce store in 2017 that sources a USDA food desert with fresh produce from around Oakland County.

Update January 2020: Coleman is married to Bethany Blackburn and they are welcoming their first child, a daughter, Caroline, in January of 2020.
