Attorney/Shareholder
Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller, PC

I focus my practice on a unique niche of Employment law, providing clients with preventative services such as training, document creation and updating and early resolution to assist them in reducing the potential for employment-related litigation. I’m actively involved in many aspects of Maddin, Hauser, Roth & Heller, P.C., serving as the leading member of its Marketing and Branding Committee, as a member of its Executive Committee, Co-Chairman of the Corporate/Employment Practice Group and as a member of the Franchise and Distribution Practice Group. I’m also involved in many employment law-related organizations. I currently serve as the Labor and Employment Law Section Council for the State Bar of Michigan and am a member of its e-News Committee. I was recently nominated as Director Elect for Michigan Society of Human Resources Management (MISHRM) and am the first attorney to serve in this role. I also serve as SHRM’s Director of Resource Partners and was previously the Chair of the Oakland County Bar Association’s (OCBA) Employment Law Committee. A large part of my unique employment law niche includes speaking at employment-related events to human resources managers, business owners and CEOs regarding the importance of preventative employment law strategies. I am a regular speaker at HR Day, SHRM, American Payroll Association, and related non-profit chapters, national webcasts, podcasts, and conferences. I have also served on the panel for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) to discuss LGBT legal updates and has authored several articles regarding strategies to update employee handbooks and challenge unemployment benefit claims.

I have been honored to be named a Michigan Super Lawyers® Rising Star and as a Top Lawyer by DBusiness Magazine. In 2014, I received the Oakland County Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award for exceptional voluntary services benefitting the organization. I’m an avid bicyclist and participate in many community activities and charities that involve biking. Giving back to the community and providing assistance where I can is an important part of my life. I recently initiated a non-profit application for my own bicycling club, Cadieux Bicycle Club II. I have participated in many charity cycling events, including Make A Wish (Wish a Mile), the Exhale Ride, and others to raise awareness and donations for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Of course, along with some of these events comes a bit of friendly competition and I’m pleased to have been the 2017 and 2018 Cat 1/2/3 35+ Road Point Series Champion and the first place Team Competition winner for the OCBA’s 2018 Race Judicata. I also volunteer as a basketball coach at my church and work represent many non-profit organizations.

Some of my recent success stories include:

  • Settled a $500,000+ sexual harassment and race discrimination claim demand for under $7,000;
  • Dismissed a $500,000+ Notice of Assessment from the Unemployment Insurance Agency without any liability;
  • Provided training and counseling to key employees in order to prevent unintentional violations of overlapping employment laws;
  • Saved numerous clients thousands of dollars by drafting agreements in advance of an issue and resolving employment disputes without litigation; and
  • Defended wage and hour audits and employment classification audits without any liability.
