After working in the White House and halls of Congress, Hy Safran returned to Michigan in 2015 to become the Director of Philanthropy for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and the United Jewish Foundation.

In that role, he's raised millions of dollars for social services programs in Oakland County. He's parlayed many years of working with elected officials and leaders across the region to help support the residents of Oakland County.

Before returning to Michigan, Safran was the director of strategic affairs in the U.S. Senate, the national constituency director under President Barack Obama and the congressional outreach Director in the U.S. House of Representatives.

He is a board member of the Congregation Shaarey Zedek and Humble Design and has previously been a trustee or board member of the Jewish Community Relations Council, Jewish Theological Seminary Detroit Chapter, Jewish Federation NEXTGen Executive Committee, Oakland County Community Health Coalition, Anti-Defamation League Young Adult Division, and JARC Young Leadership Division

Safran received a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in New York and lives in Bloomfield Township.
