About

The Oakland County Health Division provides immunizations for all ages at our North and South Oakland Health Centers, and outreach clinics throughout Oakland County.

Eligibility

Immunization eligibility varies on state and federal eligibility criteria for childhood and adult vaccines.

Appointments

Walk-ins only, no appointment needed. Bring a picture ID and all insurance cards.

Legal Guardians must present current guardianship papers and parent/guardian must sign a consent form for children under 18 years. Please bring all previous shot records.

Fees

There is a $7 administration fee per vaccine.

If you have insurance, check with your provider for possible benefit coverage. A fee schedule is available for those not eligible for state and/or federal vaccine programs. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay; there is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available.

Vaccine payment options include cash, credit, Medicare, Medicaid, most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and additional insurances. All credit and debit card transactions will now include a 3.5% transaction fee and electronic checks will include a $2.50 charge per order.

A Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) is an information sheet produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that explains the benefits and risks of a vaccine to a vaccine recipient, or their parents or legal representatives.

Frequently Asked Questions About Immunizations

What immunizations are recommended for children, teens and adults?

Vaccines are given per CDC recommended guidelines. Childhood immunizations are provided birth - age 18.

My child missed some of their shots. Do they need to start over?

No. You can continue the series where you left off. Remember that delaying or refusing vaccines can put a child at risk for disease.

Can everyone come to the Health Division for shots?

The Health Division provides selected vaccines for children and adults. However, if your health insurance fully covers the cost of vaccines, we ask that you see your private healthcare/insurance provider for service because Oakland County charges a fee for some vaccines.

Can my child get their shots if they have a cold or ear infections?

Mild illness or fever is not a reason to delay immunizations. If you have questions, call Nurse on Call at 800-848-5533.

Is it safe to get so many shots at once?

Careful and thorough studies show that getting many vaccines on the same day does not decrease effectiveness or increase side effects.

What side effects will my child have when getting their shots?

Most side effects are very mild and may include a slight fever, fussiness or some redness and soreness at the injection site.
